"Helping" with the books

Josie was telling Betty that she needed to stay right there and hold the books.

She has been very interested in moving collections of things from one place to another like this.  In the car the other day she moved all the money in the ashtray to the door handle.

She did, eventually, allow Betty to give some back and she did put them back on the shelf as well.

Bikes, trikes, scooters and Jeeps (and dump trucks!)

When we get home from preschool each day, we play outside.  Lilly is wearing my rucking pads from rugby as a jacket.

Josie has upgraded from diving headfirst of of vehicles to just stepping off!

Pushing Lilly on the trike.

Jeeping.

Balancing on one scooter,

and another.

Just for a moment, riding a baby pushcar.

Off to do some work in the flowerbeds!

Getting Bigger by the moment!

Sometimes she also stands with her big toe tipped back under her foot for just a little bit of extra height!

We have been thinking about replacing this terrible, sticking door--but she cannot yet open it, so perhaps we will keep it awhile (50% of the time Mark cannot yet open it, so it helps us to sleep in, too)

This was just before we had to get rid of this high table and chairs, though she has no problem getting into the new chairs either!  Note the vegetable starts on the table--they all had to move to the countertop. It is very hard not to tranfer them outside when it has been 70 for five days and is predicted for another 5 more!

Other fun Spring activities

Josie has a strong interest in birdies and last week we saw several in our yard. I thought some bird feeders would invite even more.

Making them was a lot of fun!
As of today, three of them are missing, but we haven't seen any birds! Not sure if it was the wind, a squirrel or birds who benefited--we have most of the tub of crisco left, though, we'll just make more!

Planting season!

Mark, Josie, Lilly and I have been working on planting some seeds throughout February. Josie has already learned many things about planting. She knows that the spray bottle is full of water.

She helps put the dirt into a tray (we have been using egg cartons for planters, and this is a practice apple carton for Josie)

She has also learned quite a bit about dirt! In fact, "dirt," is the first word that Josie has said all at once! She has lots of words that we understand for important people and routines (Ma for Mommy, Mama, Mark; Ba for bath, bottle, birdie, baby; and a special sound for Lilly that is hard to transcribe, for example) but Dirt is a very good first word for Josie!
