15 weeks

We went back to the same spot for one more try in the morning--all we caught was a picture of our growing baby!

The sun came out and we tried a little more fishing.
We saw someone catch a 35 or 40lb King Salmon just as we arrived.

Then the sun finally set at 11:40 pm so we packed up for the night.

We did SEE some fish

Here they are, swimming back home to the hatchery where they were born--these fish are just for looking at!

Fishing in Alaska

Unfortunately, we did not catch any fish . . . also, it was a bit damp for a few days

Thanks Megan and Steve!

Megan and Steve helped us take out our old window--we've got the new one in, just no pictures yet!

Kitchen Makeover

Betty has now painted roughly three floors of our house. Here the kitchen has been turned from green with wallpaper trim to a nice bluish white. She also painted three floors of orange over with beige. Both make the house seem much bigger!

I am very happy to have an opportunity to create a garden again this year. Developing these garden spaces from our overgrown backyard has been a little bit of a Little Red Hen story. Pretty much the only thing I have done is plant, weed and water in this garden. A month or two ago, I laid out some stakes showing where I thought the garden should go and then Betty (the Little Red Hen in our story) turned over the soil, added compost and manure, rototilled and then built these fences from the boards she and my dad removed from our rotting deck. First we have a corn garden and below you can mostly see the peas in the middle of the garden. I seem to have left very little space for walking around the rows, so we will see how the weeding goes as the summer progresses!

13 Weeks!

If you didn't really spend time staring at my navel three or four months ago, you might not believe me--but I'm 13 weeks pregnant! You can also see, in this lovely image, that we are in the process of covering our sherbert ice cream colored house with neutral tones such as the "winter day" shown here in the bathroom working against the lemon sherbert!
