A little more fun in the park

The camera died in the middle of the download so there are even more pictures!

Bringing Mama her shoes.

Recently Lilly and Josie have played a lot of "lean back," lying on the ground looking at the sky and trees.

Josie ran almost all the way up the hill when she realized the swings were at the top!

Playing ball at the park

Josie has recently been watching bigger kids play soccer at one of the parks where we go to play on the climbing structures so we picked up a Josie-sized soccer ball for her.

She is very good at kicking it, here we are at our closest park, which has a large field just right for kicking and chasing!

She is also pretty fast!

Keys! Drive! Drive! Mongmy!

Josie has been learning new words at an explosive pace, as all children do about this age!  I am most excited about her rendition of Mommy that has a /g/ somewhere in the middle!  When Betty comes home from work each day, Josie comes out to the car, climbs in and drives around!  She likes her daily routines very much!

Dunking!

I recently consigned a giant pile of baby clothes at a consignment sale locally.  I said as I left to shop at the sale that I would get Josie a hoop if they had one--and they did!  She had been playing a lot with 6 year old neighber G. at neighboor Chad's house.  She was excited about the hoop when I brought it in and played for several minutes before bedtime.

Um, yeah, Mama, great job sewing...

I made this outfit for Josie in a fit of creativity (the day the book of patterns was due back at the library)  I previously made the pants in two smaller sizes and they were favorites (of ours) for some time.  The top is adjusted from a dress, using the scraps from the pants.  I was pretty proud of my efforts.  She seems to be less impressed with my skills, no?  I haven't made her wear it again...

March 27

Tragically, about a month ago, there was a controlled burn that quickly raced out of control in Jefferson County, claiming several houses and three lives.  The smoke suddenly blocked out the sun even at our house and we thought it was much closer.

We stayed inside and the midday sun looked like a late summer afternoon.

It is pretty great to be a kid and not yet have to worry about much of anything!

We are always working on Josie's hair--with many, many applications of detangler, it curls, otherwise it mostly stands up.
